Erin + Sterling

Idyllwild, California

This was our first ever wedding video and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting or lovely couple to work with. We spent the day at the Dutton family home in Idyllwild, California, where the ceremony took place in the early evening. Thunderclouds gathered in the morning and we got the first drops of rain in a long time, but the weather cleared by the afternoon.

The ceremony took place on a specially built platform over the creek behind the house. It was perfectly timed so that golden sunlight backlit the surrounding pine and cedar trees. As you’ll hear in the video, one of the highlights of the ceremony was Sterling’s vows—sweet, heartfelt, funny, and very true to his personality.

Erin’s artistic touch was seen throughout the preparations, ceremony and reception. From their wedding invitations that featured Erin’s watercolor artwork, to the flowers she arranged on the morning of the wedding in cobalt blue bottles she collected from yard sales and thrift stores during their engagement.

After a small ceremony with their closest family and friends, Erin and Sterling invited many other friends from around town to join them for their reception. Guests enjoyed pizza from the Idyllwild Pizza Company, beer from Idyll Awhile Wine Shoppe, and wine from Idyllwild’s local winery, Middle Ridge Winery.

A beautiful combination of elegance, artistry, DIY and Idyllwild made this sweet mountaintop wedding come together perfectly, and we were thrilled to be there to capture the day.
