Spanish Bohemian Styled Shoot in Pioneertown
Pioneertown, California
The Ruin is a wedding venue up in Pioneertown in the remains of an old stone house where a gold miner lived about a hundred years ago.
We heard about The Ruin when we first started The Quail & The Dove, and it is one of the Joshua Tree venues we have been daydreaming of shooting at. You can imagine our excitement when Laura of Perfectly Poised Events invited us to participate in a styled shoot there!
We had already worked with Laura and Danielle from Perfectly Poised at the Lake Havasu wedding we shot in October, and we knew that a wedding editorial with them was sure to be beautifully designed, unique and well-organized.
They did not disappoint! Laura and Danielle, along with their model Sabrina, showed up at the crack of dawn with a Uhaul full of sumptuous bohemian rentals from Sundrop Vintage and created a reception area, lounge, sweetheart table, bar, and ceremony site among the stone walls and 75 year old olive trees. Their theme was “Spanish Bohemian Boda.”
As Laura said, “Keeping old world elements in mind, we brought in vintage textures of lace and suede, vivacious blooms, and emerald gemstones. Appealing to the modern-day bride, we tied in effortless bohemian style with flowing fabrics, and natural and eclectic vintage decor.”
All the vendors that participated brought their own creative touches to make the theme come together, and the models Sabrina and Arya were great to work with.
From the unique floral arch to the bartender making specialty cocktails in the late afternoon sunlight, we shot way too much footage but we managed to pare it down to our favorite shots that we felt captured the feeling and style of the shoot. The shoot — and our film — was featured on the wedding blog, Ruffled in December 2016.
It was our first styled shoot so we may be spoiled now by how great this one was!
